General Information
Nowadays more and more pet owners have become conscious of the fact that dogs and cats thrive on fresh food. There is much talk about naturally appropriate diet. What does this mean? Dogs are omnivores; they have survived for millions of years on fresh meat, bones, vegetables (mostly found in the stomach of the prey) and fruit. Wild animals do not cook their food.Their digestive system is not designed to eat cooked or processed foods. As we know, cooking actually destroys vitamins, enzymes and other vital ingredients. Dogs also don't require grain. Grains brake down into sugar, which may contribute to a multitude of problems (i.e. skin irritations).
The health benefits of a fresh food diet for our four-legged friends are similar to those for humans, and are just as important. Even a small amount of fresh food can have a big impact.
In almost all animals, the switch to a fresh diet improves health and can prolong their vitality. Studies how people and labratory animals that eat a fresh diet are healthier and have lower incidence of cancer, stroke and heart disease compared to those who eat processed foods.
Feeding Guide
Start introducing raw bones gradually if your pet has not eaten them before. Chicken wings or necks are a good start.
If you've got a fussy eater, increase the amount of veggies gradually to avoid wastage. Alternatively you can mix some of our new food with the old. The left-over food can be kept fresh in the fridge until the next meal. Veggies can be kept in the Freezer and daily rations can be easily separated.
If your pet refuses to eat raw meat, pour a small amount of boiling water on top of it to give it a cooked appearance. If the new food is refused then take it away and wait until the next meal.
Meat or bones may be plunged into hot water to warm before serving straight from the fridge. Do not cook or microwave. Do not feed cooked or frozen bones. Serve at room temperature. Don't exercise your dog immediately after feeding.
Raw Meat & Bones should consist of approximately 60 - 70 % of the daily food intake. Vegetables and Fruit should make up of 30 - 40 % of the daily intake. Vegetables are most beneficial and easily absorbed if finely crushed/minced and un-cooked.
